FAQ

General Studio Questions

  • Come as you are. We recommend a water bottle, a yoga mat (we have loaners, if you forget), and clothing that feels comfortable and unrestrictive. If it’s your first visit, arriving about 10–15 minutes early allows time to settle in, meet your teacher, and get oriented. We provide thoughtfully curated props to support a wide range of bodies and practices.

  • Classes are thoughtfully tempered to support both movement and comfort. The studio is gently warmed and climate-controlled, with infrared heaters maintaining an ambient temperature of around 75°F.

Select classes are designated as warm and are heated to approximately 80–85°F. As bodies move and energy builds, the temperature may naturally rise a few degrees throughout the practice.

If you prefer a cooler experience, we recommend choosing a spot away from the heaters or attending classes not labeled warm.

We do not offer hot yoga.

  • Solace is a quiet refuge from daily noise. We ask that phones be airplane mode and stored with your belongings in the designated area in the practice room. If you’re expecting an urgent call, please let your teacher know ahead of time, we’re always happy to support you.

Class & Schedule Questions

  • Welcome. We recommend starting with Gentle Yoga or Mindful Flow, which moves at a more accessible pace and emphasizes modifications. Arriving a few minutes early to introduce yourself to the teacher can be helpful, they’ll offer support throughout class. At Solace, we believe yoga meets you exactly where you are - come as you are.

  • We aim to balance flexibility with respect for shared space.

    • Late entry is not allowed once class is in session out of respect for the practice and students.

    • If you know you’ll need to leave early, let your teacher know beforehand and choose a spot near the exit.

    • When exiting, move quietly during a transition if possible, and avoid leaving during savasana when you can.

Whenever possible, we encourage staying for the full class. The closing moments are an essential part of the practice.

  • We’re actively exploring community accessibility programs like “good karma yogi program” as we open. Please email info@solaceyogami.com to inquire about this offering or to share your needs. We believe yoga should be welcoming and accessible, and we’re committed to growing alongside our community.

For healthcare workers, teachers, and first responders: we’re developing a special appreciation program details will be shared through our newsletter and social channels.

  • We do not have shower facilities at the studio.

  • We don't have traditional lockers, but we do have supervised storage space where you can store your belongings during class. Our team maintains visibility of the storage area throughout all class times.

  • As it is with most neighborhood businesses in and around Seattle, Mercer Island parking is also limited, and businesses are not able to guarantee parking availability in their immediate lot.

We recommend allowing a few extra minutes to find a space before you settle in for your class.

    Additional parking:

    1) We can safely say that the Mercer Island Town Center lot will work - it is the new parking lot after the old Tully’s Coffee was taken down, between SE 27th Street and the dead end of Sunset Hwy. This parking lot is free for the first two hours, but you'll need to register your car when you get there.

We have walked from there to the studio a few times, and it's only about a 3-minute walk, 4-minutes if you’re in no particular hurry.

    2)
Another great option is the 24-hour parking lot available at the city’s park-and-ride. Plenty of parking spots available, and the walk to the studio takes one minute longer than the first option, if you take the route by the roundabout.

    3) There is also an often-empty parking lot accessible from the Sunset Hwy, behind the Chevron gas station. This lot is behind The Mercer complex on the SE 27th Street - across the street / north / to the left of Solace - behind the garage for Alister and Qdoba. This lot is a bit closer to the studio, you can walk through the parking garage to access it. For safety, please use the crosswalk at the intersection of SE 27th St. & 77th Ave SE, or the crosswalk near Starbucks when crossing the street.

  • Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your scheduled class time. This allows our teachers to complete the previous session and prepare the space mindfully for your practice. Arriving within this window also gives you time to settle in, use the restroom, and connect with your intention before class begins.
